This page covers AS type speed controller and flow control fittings for pneumatic systems. These fittings are used when the air speed in a tube line needs to be adjusted instead of simply connected from one point to another.
The series includes elbow speed controllers, inline flow control fittings, small adjustment fittings and tube-to-tube control styles. Common models include AS*01F, AS*11F, AS, ASN2, AS1001F-4001F, AQ, AS**F-0 and AS**1F.
In a pneumatic circuit, the moving speed of a cylinder or actuator is often adjusted by controlling the air leaving or entering the line. An AS type speed controller gives the operator a small adjustment point near the tube connection. This can make machine setup easier, especially when one cylinder needs to move more slowly than another.
Some models connect a tube to a threaded port. Other models are installed directly between two tube lines. AQ is used as a compact inline flow control style. ASN2 is a small adjustment fitting for limited installation space. The correct model should be selected by checking both the tube size and the connection style.
Before installation, cut the tube end straight and make sure the outside surface is clean. Push the tube fully into the fitting. After the air line is connected, adjust the knob slowly while checking the movement of the pneumatic equipment.
