PV Series Union Elbow Push-to-Connect Pneumatic Fitting

PV Series Union Elbow Pneumatic Fitting

This is a 90-degree push-in connector for pneumatic tubing. Both ends are for tube insertion, so it is used to connect two air tubes at a corner.

In a small machine, the tube often cannot run straight all the way. A PV elbow helps change the tube direction without forcing the tube into a sharp bend.

How It Is Used

Cut the tube end flat before fitting it. Push one tube into one side of the elbow, then push the second tube into the other side.

After inserting the tubes, pull them lightly by hand. If they stay in place, the fitting has locked onto the tube.

To remove a tube, turn off the air first. Press the blue release ring and pull the tube out straight.

Where It Fits

PV union elbows are common in pneumatic cabinets, cylinders, valves, packing machines, small automation equipment and repair work.

They are useful when the air line needs to turn 90 degrees but there is no threaded port involved. If the connection needs to screw into a cylinder or valve port, a male elbow fitting should be used instead.

Picking the Size

Choose the fitting by the outside diameter of the tube. A 6 mm tube should use a 6 mm PV elbow. An 8 mm tube should use an 8 mm PV elbow.

This type is normally for two tubes of the same size. If the two tube sizes are different, a reducing elbow should be selected.

Notes Before Installation

Keep the tube end clean. Do not insert the tube from an angle. Leave a little space around both blue rings, because they must be pressed when the tube is removed.

After the air is connected, check both ports for leakage. If one side leaks, remove the tube, cut the end again, and push it back into the fitting.
