PL Series Male Elbow Push-to-Connect Pneumatic Fitting

A PL fitting is easy to recognise. It has a blue push-in tube port at one end and a brass male thread at the other, with the two connections arranged at 90 degrees. It is mainly chosen when a straight connector would leave the tube pointing in the wrong direction.

The fitting shown in the photo is not a speed controller. There is no adjusting screw, needle or control knob.

Características chave

The elbow shape keeps the tube close to the valve, cylinder or machine surface. This can make a noticeable difference inside a crowded control cabinet.

Tube installation is straightforward. Insert a clean, square-cut tube into the blue collet until it reaches the internal stop. The gripping parts inside the fitting hold the tube in place.

The threaded end connects directly to a pneumatic component. Its elbow body can normally be turned to face the required tubing direction during installation.

Aplicações Tipicas

PL male elbows are often found on cylinder ports and solenoid valves. They are also used with manifolds, filter and regulator assemblies, test fixtures, packaging machines and small automated equipment.

They are particularly helpful when there is not enough room above a threaded port for a straight fitting and a bent tube would be untidy or likely to kink.

Ordering Information

Two details are needed before ordering: tube outside diameter and male thread size.

For example, PL06-02 commonly describes a fitting for 6 mm tube with a 1/4-inch male thread. This coding is widely used, but it is not identical across every factory. Sending the actual tube and thread requirements avoids mistakes.

Common tube sizes include 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm. Available threads may include BSPT, BSPP, NPT and metric options. These standards can look similar but should not be mixed.

FAQ

Is PL a flow control fitting?

No. A normal PL fitting only connects the tube and changes its direction. Airflow adjustment requires a separate speed controller.

How is PL different from PV?

PL has one push-in tube port and one male thread. PV joins two tubes together at 90 degrees and has no thread.

Can I turn the elbow after fitting it?

The body can usually be positioned while the fitting is being installed. Do not force it after assembly without checking the supplied design.

Which tubing can be used?

PL fittings are commonly used with polyurethane and nylon pneumatic tube. The tube outside diameter must match the release-ring size.

How do I remove the tube?

Turn off the air and release the remaining pressure. Push the blue ring toward the fitting, hold it down and pull the tube out straight.

Should I add thread tape?

Check the thread first. Some tapered threads already have sealant on them. Parallel threads may seal with an O-ring or washer instead.
