PY Series Union Y Push-to-Connect Pneumatic Fitting
PY Series Union Y Push-to-Connect Pneumatic Fitting
This fitting is used when an air line has to branch into two directions. Compared with a T fitting, the Y shape gives the tube a softer turning angle, so the pipe layout can look cleaner inside a machine or control cabinet.
There is no threaded end on this type. All three sides are for pneumatic tube connection. Push the tube in by hand, and the internal lock holds it in place.
Tube Connection
Before fitting the tube, cut the end flat. If the cut is slanted or rough, the seal may not sit well.
Push the tube into the port until it reaches the inside stop. Then pull it back slightly to make sure it has locked. When removing the tube, turn off the air first, press the blue release ring, and pull the tube out straight.
Common Applications
PY union Y fittings are used on pneumatic machines where one air supply needs to go to two places. They may be used near cylinders, valves, small manifolds, packaging machines, assembly equipment, or simple workshop air lines.
The Y layout is especially helpful when space is limited and the tube should not be forced into a sharp bend.
Size Selection
Choose the model by the outside diameter of the tube. If the tube is 8 mm outside diameter, use the matching 8 mm Y fitting.
Most PY union Y fittings use the same tube size on all three ports. Before ordering, check the tube size used on the machine, not only the old fitting shape.
Installation Tips
Keep the tube clean before inserting it. Do not twist the fitting body after the tubes are installed. Leave a little space around each port so the release ring can still be pressed during maintenance.
After installation, increase the air pressure slowly and check the three tube ports for leaks.
